We are currently inviting applications for the position of General Services Manager in Leopardstown Care Centre. 

Overview of Role:

The General Services Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating support services in Leopardstown Care Centre, with a strong focus on ensuring excellent customer service to residents, their families and service users. The role is responsible for enhancing the hospitality and quality standards, hygiene, and safety of the Care Centre.

Overall Responsibility:
  • Management of support services of the Care Centre include Catering, Cleaning, Laundry and Maintenance. This position is responsible for ensuring that the Centre maintains a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, catering and physical appearance.
  • Organisation and oversight of the daily operations of the Care Centre. Coordinating and supervising support staff members and leading them by example to ensure the highest quality services.
  • Management of budgets and expenditure.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of the service (s) provided by conducting audits and meeting Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensuring that the environment and facilities in the Centre are maintained to a high standard of comfort for the residents and providing a welcoming atmosphere for visitors to the Centre.
Catering
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of catering to a high standard, this to include nutritional balance and variety.
  • Liaison and management of approved suppliers and contractors
  • Ensuring Compliance to HACCP and environmental health standards for food preparation.
  • Overseeing that the food service is provided to an excellent standard for all meals and that the dining experience is an enjoyable, unhurried and pleasant social occasion for all residents.
  • Management of food budget on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct resident feedback surveys
  • Oversee mealtimes and quality of hospitality daily.
Cleaning
  • Management of third party contractor providing cleaning and hygiene services
  • Ensure that standards of hygiene and presentation of the Care Centre environment are maintained to an excellent standard, showing the Centre at its best always. 
  • Setting the cleaning standards and cleaning procedures in accordance with company policy.
  • Monitor and ensure that daily, weekly and monthly cleaning routines are delivered consistently.
  • Ensure cleaning standards meet organisational, HIQA & EHO requirements.
Laundry
  • Management of Laundry Service supplier
  • Oversee the consistent delivery and safekeeping of residents’ personal clothing.
  • Ensure high standard of linen and towels throughout the Centre.
Maintenance
  • Deliver on Centre improvements through management of third party maintenance supplier.
  • Ensure that the preventative maintenance programme is implemented.
  • Ensure a daily and weekly maintenance routine is maintained and followed
  • Liaise with Mowlam Facilities to schedule Centre improvements within budget.
Standards
  • Ensure proper procedure and work practices to prevent cross-infection.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Policy to safeguard the safety and welfare of staff, residents and others.
  • Ensure compliance with all expected organisational and legislative standards.
Overall
  • Work with the Director of Nursing (Person in Charge) to build a strong team and environment in the Centre.
  • Participate in the selection and interviewing of staff where required.
  • Liaise with Mowlam HR to ensure that practices within these functions comply with all current employment legislation.
  • Monitor all complaints and inspections to identify and implement improvements.
  • Work with the Director of Nursing (Person in Charge) to ensure resident’s quality of life is enhanced by providing a homely and comfortable environment.

Person specification; Skills and Experience
  • Experience working in the hospitality sector desirable
  • 3-5 years’ experience in relevant industry (e.g. Healthcare, Hospitality)
  • Demonstrated success leading and managing a team
  • Third Level Qualification to underpin the skills required for the role.
  • Strong Leadership, Organisational and Communication skills.
  • Sound decision making ability and results driven.
  • Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative.
  • Ability to work well and promote a team environment.
  • Good appreciation of finance issues.
  • Ability to identify good practices in hygiene, catering, and hospitality.
