Purpose of the Role:
The Assistant Business Banking Officer primarily provides administrative support to the Business Banking Manager. The incumbent supports the manager with the achievement of sales and delivers high quality service of the business banking offering to customers. The incumbent sells and delivers basic advice to customers around products and services and provides contact (face to face, telephone and by email) with customers in order to satisfy their needs. Provides general and administrative support within the unit by processing paperwork and assisting in such activities as conducting credit reports, registering securities, following up, maintaining diaries, monitoring arrears, and responding to general inquiries. Also provides support to the Business Banking Manager in maintaining the lending portfolio.

Main Accountabilities:
  • Receives telephone calls and deal with requests / issues as appropriate.
  • Assists customers with matters of routine and clerical nature.
  • Assists with the review and submission of new account documentation.
  • Prepares security & other documentation for customer’s signature ensuring correct execution.
  • Forwards documentation to be registered as applicable.
  • Conducts credit checks, obtain required information; prepare credit reports as necessary.
  • Provides excellent levels of service for clients and Business Banking Managers.
  • Completes weekly reports with details of pre-booked meetings.
  • Identifies and pursues sales opportunities, particularly quality business banking with potential.
  • Sells and delivers both business and / or personal banking products as needed (refer to other parts of the Bank as necessary).
  • Understands the financial needs of the customer and matches product offerings to the needs of the business (solution selling).
  • Generates sales or provide leads in order for team to meet agreed targets.
  • Contacts potential and existing customers for new sales and cross sales (likely provided with a qualified list of individuals / businesses to contact).
  • May be required to interview applicants for a range of lending products within authorised limits.
  • Identifies trends in the needs of small and micro business customers and communicate them to management.
  • Assists in migrating clients and accounts to other channels.
  • Resolves sales-related queries from customer service area. 
  • Completes applications for business banking chequing and deposit accounts
  • Completes credit application for business banking customers
  • Maybe required to prepare credit applications for submission to Credit Risk Management.
  • Handles face-to-face queries and complaints of customers.
  • May be required to assist with the keying of financial information for new and renewal credit applications.
  • May be required to assist with the completion and submission of MMR exceptions and remediates.
  • May be required to action in demand and customer monitoring and reporting irregularity liabilities (CMRIL) in consultation with the Business Banking Manager, ensuring credit risk policies and guidelines are maintained as it relates to client’s accounts.
  • Submits valuation requests through nationwide appraisal services (NAS) and / or prepares the requisite Bank approved request letters as directed.
  • Ensures all reports are appropriately actioned ensuring that facilities outside discretion are promptly reported to the relevant authority.
  • Prepares maintenance forms for entering new account information and amendments into CIS.   
  • Maintains the integrity of the credit files ensuring all documentation are located on the file, culling where necessary. 
  • Assists with the preparation of form 3101; no later than three (3) days after classification.  Accompanying files to be submitted to Client Credit Management (CCM) within the same timelines.         
Qualifications & Experience Required:
  • Experience in customer relations by handling queries and providing information.
  • Exposure to general banking and particularly, risk management support functions.
  • Experience in preparation and scrutinising of security documentation
  • Some knowledge of security documentation.
  • Good understanding of CIBC Caribbean offerings in terms of sales and service model.
  • Knowledge of retail and commercial banking products, pricing, services and applicability to customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of branch processes including product and service sales and delivery. 
  • Knowledge of our competitors’ products and services in order to convince the customer of the advantage of our products and services.
