2rn is an infrastructure and service provider to the broadcast transmission and wireless telecommunication markets in Ireland. For broadcasters, 2rn distributes and transmits the programme services (channels) of the Irish national television and radio broadcasters, free-to-air terrestrially and via satellite. 2rn also provide transmission services to local and regional radio broadcasters. 2rn provides site infrastructure services to mobile telephone, broadband, private communications companies, system integrators and the emergency services. 2rn is constantly updating its large site portfolio in conjunction with customers developing requirements.

2rn is a wholly owned subsidiary of RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann).                                                                                                                                                                      
The Opportunity
 
2rn has an opportunity for a suitably qualified & experienced Structural Engineer to join the Infrastructure Team. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the Structural Engineer has responsibility for designing, analysing, and ensuring the structural stability & integrity of 2rn’s current and future telecommunications & broadcasting infrastructure, including towers, masts, antenna mounts & third-party installations.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager  and working closely with cross-functional teams, the Structural Engineer will play a key role in the effective management of structural engineering works on 2rn sites and provide technical leadership on projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analysis of telecoms and large broadcast structures, buildings and foundations including masts, towers, and monopoles for 2rn and their clients including:
    • Structural capacity assessments of all types of telecoms and broadcast structures.
    • Structural assessments of third-party telecoms installations.
    • Structural assessments of replacement high-power broadcast antenna installations.
    • Design input for new main station buildings.
    • Design of bespoke bracketry and mounting systems for equipment on structures.
    • Mast Occupancy analysis for input to regulatory models.
  • Production and management of all the companies CAD requirements and maintenance of accurate records of structural designs, calculations, site assessments, and project documentation.
  • Management of civil engineering works on 2rn sites - roads, buildings, roof, drainage etc. to ensure that projects are executed according to approved designs and specifications and in accordance with construction safety guidelines.
  • Planning and Property applications and issues - managing the permitting process, securing approvals from local authorities and regulatory bodies for capital projects.
  • Provide technical leadership on projects.
  • Preparation of tender specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including commercial, operations, project managers, architects, and engineers, to achieve project goals and timelines.
  • Function of PSDP.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Relevant 3rd level Civil or Structural Engineering qualification, preferably to a Chartered Engineer level
  • Proven track record in telecom structures analysis and design - A minimum of 5 years previous experience in structural design and analysis within the Telecom & Broadcast industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and design tools packages such as MsTower and ASM Tower
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Project Management software tools. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication & presentation skills together with strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent prioritisation and time management skills
  • Full driving licence, available to travel to regional sites and comfortable working in both office and onsite environments.

This position will be offered on an ongoing, full-time employment basis at Manager Grade 3 level.  The salary band for Manager Grade 3 is €49,542 to €83,134 per annum, with pay increases subject to performance. The role will be based in Cookstown, Tallaght.
