The Opportunity

The Future Networks & Strategic Offshore Planning function within The Chief Transformation & Technology Office is responsible for generating the first view of how the power system in Ireland and Northern Ireland will evolve out into the future. The time horizon for the team extends from the short term (e.g. assessing the impact of new connections onto the power system) to long term (e.g. development of a 2050 power system vision).

As Programme Manager within the Future Networks & Strategic Offshore Planning function you will be responsible in leading out on key strategic future network planning programmes and the management of documents.

You will be responsible for the project management and reporting of technical studies to be delivered to quality requirements, on-time and within budget, respecting established governance and controls. Your role will see you manage the programme delivery of a broad range of strategic network development projects.

We will look to you to set the internal and external stakeholder strategy and lead the team to meet customer needs in line with company requirements.

As part of your role, you will drive the development of the net zero network development plan and working collaboratively with other teams to deliver on EirGrid’s role and strategy. You will lead out on liaison both internally and externally at all levels as required to understand stakeholder needs.

You will have a proven track record of strategic project management (initiation, development and delivery), of analysing and solving problems, excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of working in a high paced challenging environment



About you
Successful candidates will have the following:
  • University degree in engineering or other equivalent degree, typically with 10+ years relevant experience
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Exceptional experience using analysis coupled with professional judgement to make decisions which drive the delivery of large infrastructure projects in complex environments
  • Extensive experience in presenting, facilitating and chairing meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders with an ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience applying formal project management methodologies and disciplines for a programme or multiple projects
  • A high degree of proficiency in business case development, programme financing, programme governance, programme assurance, change management and organisation development
  • Extensive experience in development and delivery of projects in complex environments
  • Experience of working within a similar regulated utility environment
  • Strong Commercial awareness with the ability to make decisions and recommendations in all aspects of project implementation
  • Experience of working within a similar regulated utility environment
